The newness of diary writing was only two years old when I discovered poetry and liked some of its components. Cadence, metering and rhyming merged with my infatuation of rock ‘n roll music’s variety of lyrics. My storytelling evolved into a love for lyric writing. To write lyrics and earn a living became a dedication an obsession and then a journey to North Hollywood, California.
Once I found a musician who could compose and sing well I found my songwriting collaborator. The American Guild of Authors and Composers (AGAC) lyric writing classes mixed in well with collaboration. Producing songs to sing in Hollywood nightclubs were also recorded onto demo tapes and hand delivered to the music industry.
Record labels, managers, recording studios and producers received our three song demos. Edging into the industry I met people who gave an open invitation to always send more material for their consideration. The slow no was addicting.
The business end of the business was a success and we kept shopping our originals. The work of writing, promoting and delivering original songs was complete and on going. What was missing was the record deal.
Along the way my love of writing from the heart got compromised with what would sell commercially. God’s gift of talent was still there, the love of the art was still there, but my heart got bruised.
After all the shooting stars and glamour of Hollywood faded the King of the universe saved me. Jesus put me in a position at the bottom where He could display His love from on high. For the first time in my life I had an eternal purpose for living. My heart to write and my gift to create were reborn in my total spiritual regeneration. Lyrics about a Christian struggles, blessings and my new love for God grew to praise Him more and more.
Before I called co-incidences, God-incidences, I was impressed with myself and with what I thought were my discoveries. Looking through life’s unique view of hind sight, I saw God was always there with me but I never knew it. Now after 24 years of learning with the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit, God is still and will always be in control.
You’ve had it all along and never really saw Look inside hear His song, God’s love is there for all, Forsake the world’s way, ask Jesus for His love, Live for Him love each day, hope is love from above. Live for Him love each day, hope is love from above.
