Our Substitute

Michael D. Rourke Events 0 0

Born spiritually dead our sinful human nature has no truthful hope for heaven. The multitude of lies in the world elevate the idea that people are good. But the word of God says differently.  Romans 3:23 New American Standard Bible (NASB) 23 for all [a]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Sins have consequences. God is righteous and demands perfect satisfaction, paying the penalty for sins perfectly is a must. Sinful humans cannot satisfy God, Who is perfectly holy.

God sent His Son, the only Perfect Sinless One, Christ Jesus, to became our propitiation, our atonement. our Substitute to pay our penalty perfectly.

The grace of God sent Jesus to save us, we must receive God’s gift of Jesus or we will pay the penalty for our sins.

Believing, Christ dying on the cross and Him rising from the grave is everything. There is nothing to add to Jesus. No baptism, no works or good deeds, no special prayers.

All at once, truly receiving Jesus, regeneration, one’s spirit comes alive, you are born-again. The sinner also instantly has justification in God’s eyes as being perfect in Christ Jesus. Being made holy, sanctification, begins.

Perfect in position not in practice. The remaining sin nature will act out but all our sins past, present and future are forgiven and have no hellish penalty attached. No infinite separation from God.

Here in this life, God’s love will correct the sinner and He may allow chastisements to accompany a Christians ongoing repentance. Learning to sin less and less is learning how to not grieve the Holy Spirit.

As the bondage to sin is broken the genuine love for Jesus is built up. There is no fear from the penalty of hell. Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (NASB)

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Romans 3:23 for all [a]have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation [c]in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, [d]because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who [e]has faith in Jesus.

Misinformed people, most people, think life stops at the grave. Death will stop our earthly body but the soul lives eternally.

If you’re not a true Christian, where is your soul heading now and what is your proof?
