Looking out the window on the tenth floor of my hotel room in downtown Miami Beach I saw a lot.
The construction on the highrise directly across the street was at first slow and clumsy to look at. Each of my five mornings with coffee I saw more of the method in taking careful steps. One bucket of cement at a time, unloading one trailer, truck or delivery van properly with caution was the best and safest way.
My view was narrow between buildings but aimed straight at the water of Biscayne Bay. Huge cruise ships docked nearby with luxurious yachts shuttling about slowly each one courteous in their process of coming and going.
The one way streets below were filled wall to wall with scheduled weekday traffic streaming light to light. At night the streets emptied but for very few travelers passing me. Store front sidewalk doorways with cement entrances were the beds of a few street people. Standing in front of these shadow people covered with thin coats and blankets my mind went back to North Hollywood, California where I joined the nightly gathering at the park as a visitor with my dog Piper.
Decadence and poverty coast to coast side by side all under Gods watchful eye.
Turning on the television news brought me back in touch with the Ferguson events and the many forms of sin that seem to have taken centuries or decades to build and fester.
But no one was calling the race problem a sin problem. No leader, no Pastor no “good group” near or far could call sin sin. Of course mentioning the sin word would have implications like talking about God.
America has tried to live life God’s way with the Jew and Christian Bible which is one big truth focused on Jesus the Messiah. America way back when people and youth had respect for others also had a healthy fear of God. The countless blessing God has shed on America has been seen by all. But the more men and women thought about themselves the farther God went from their thoughts.
Now we have Ferguson which has become another opportunity for men and women to go further down the broken road of multiple troubles, without God, to try their best human efforts to fix the unfix-able.
No man, woman or child can fix the many variations of the sin problem except God. The good news is, God already fixed the sin problem. The only remedy goes by the name of Jesus.
But people won’t talk about sin or God and they never want to call Jesus the Messiah who came and is Savior of those who believe in Him.
Those crowds of people would have to admit they have sin in their life and they need Jesus, they need to be with Him and be able to get into heaven and avoid hell. That’s way to much for the majority of people, the herd mentality to do.
Call racism sin, call the mismanagement of government sin, call the apathy of voter turn out a sin, call America and the world falling apart faster and faster a sin because of sin, and that would be the truth and right thing to say for God to hear.
The majority won’t and the Bible will tell you why in Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one;
The one soul can call out to God; “Father, I’m a sinner, and I need your help, please help me.” Believe it, read the Bible and go to church. Be obedient and trust God.
Thanks be to God He is in the business of saving souls one soul at a time. Praise Him One Soul at a time.
A lost noisy crowd, lives without worry, high low drifting cloud, time has no hurry.
Secret pain laughs loud, death will be complete, the lost are too proud, and sin will not retreat.
Notice me, notice me, someone help please. Save me, notice me, someone help please.
Praise Him One Soul, worship the King. Jesus, Praise Him, worship the King.
One soul at a time, one soul at the door, one soul in the threshold of heaven or hell.
One step is your last, one breath to let go ,one soul through the threshold to heaven or hell.
God is sovereign, His grace draws near, His gift taken in, a miracle cheers,
One soul weeps within, God loves one sincere, in Christ joy begins, a new life sings clear.
Praise Him, Praise Him, worship the King. Jesus, Praise Him, worship the King.
Praise Him One Soul, worship the King. Praise Him One Soul, worship the King.
End.
When I ventured out of the hotel I did go to the Miami International Book Fair. However, more uplifting than seeing my books on display was meeting with my cousin Patty after fifty four years of separation.
She drove as we quickly shared a kind of patch work of dates and episodes that helped each other learn by filling in the gaps. Within minutes I spoke of my father’s sudden death.
In 1980 I hugged him, drove to Texas, received a very special surprise birthday card from him, and two days later he died and Piper dog and I flew home. As I spoke and without any expectation or reason why, I burst into tears while Patty drove. She looked at me and said it was OK.
We visited with her mom/my aunt who was ill. It was a special time for a few hours sitting on the bed talking about what had transpired with families over five decades.
Driving to the bay side restaurants near the cruise ships I saw the lights of the enormous floating fun cities fill the bay with sparkles. We were more comfortable eating and telling stories in the loud atmosphere of Five Guys Burgers and Fries. She prayed with me as we asked God to bless our food and the lives of our families.
Patty found out like others have, that if your with me I’m going to start talking about God, Jesus and the Bible. Thank God the gospel was heard one on one and we drove away returning me to my hotel and her to her family.
Does life get better than that? Nope.
Jesus is here now. He is for all people to believe in and trust as Savior God. Now, be that one soul and call to Him, Praise Him One Soul. Hell will be full of people who did not.
