The Value of Self-publishing

Michael D. Rourke Motivation for Writing 1 0

In one word writing is cathartic. A cleansing takes place when diary ideas or values and priorities are written into feelings you can see in print. In reshaping valuable truths and emotions a sense of purpose evolves as a driving force.

Visualizing your work lying on your desk printed and bound between covers, helps push your purpose to create a piece of art to your best ability. The uncommon accomplishment of furnishing a finished product that could perhaps grow legs and might springboard into the material used for another venue of art is inspiring.

Perhaps someone will be moved to create a sculpture, design a dance or write a song from reading your book. Giving readers a look at how your family tree grew or the history of your local community is useful. Your words of realism could be used by God to provoke the readers need to find real forgiveness for sins which is salvation found only in Jesus.

At first the value of self-publishing with Westbow Press was similar to viewing a food buffet where I could pick the dishes of services I needed. After choosing from the variety of skilled support I quietly sat at my desk of creativity.

The work and pleasure of applying the professional writing assistance I purchased had definitely helped my original efforts. I was also satisfied in seeing how the improvements increased my desire to reach my goal.

Having the option to go back to the buffet table for additional support and advantages was a choice I made. Returning to my manuscript with three stages of editing benefits I dug into the meal of rewriting. By the grace of God I was able to clear off my plate and published two volumes of The Threshold.

Unlike a good meal where you walk away from the table and are left with a fading taste, the memory of writing a book will endure. With non-fiction in particular, a life story is an energizing, therapeutic and liberating legacy.

Self-publishing is not for the timid or those who are not used to perseverance and dedication. When you spend your money on your invention you have to count all the costs in reaching the finish line. Self-publishing is a commitment only a devoted writer can reach.
